Our Vision
Soledad Unified School District students will demonstrate high levels of
literacy in all academic fields, use effective thinking and productive
organizational skills, show positive and healthy personal and civic
responsibility, express the ability to be both independent and cooperative,
appreciate diverse cultures, and develop meaningful and rewarding social
relationships. Our students will achieve their best and be a source of pride
for themselves, their parents, their community, and the world.
The District's Mission Statement also guides us
towards the goal of educational excellence.

independent study, and a continuation high school.
Sixty-two percent (62%) of the district's students are English Language
Learners (ELL) with Spanish being the primary language. The district is
comprised of the following ethnic groups: Hispanic or Latino (91%), White
(3.9%), Filipino (1.6%), and Other (3%). Eighty-nine
percent (89%) of the district's students participate in the federal
government's Free & Reduced Lunch Program. Eighty-seven percent of the
teachers are fully credentialed.
Location of District
The Soledad Unified School District is located in Monterey County in the
heart of the Salinas Valley. It is nestled between two coastal
mountain ranges, the Santa Lucia to the west and the Gabilan to the east.
Highway 101 runs through Soledad providing easy access to the cities of Salinas
and Monterey to the north and King City and Paso Robles to the south.
- A few miles south of Soledad, the Salinas River drops
in close to the hillside bank and runs deep and green. The water is
warm too, for it has slipped twinkling over the yellow sands in the
sunlight before reaching the narrow pool. On one side of the river
the golden foothill slopes curve up to the strong and rocky Gabilan
mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees . . .
